From Justin True · Run Iceland 2027
You're
invited.
Justin doesn't send this link to everyone. Run Iceland with him — 105 miles across the Highlands with twelve people — and come home tested physically, built emotionally, and closer to God.
What this is
Not a race.
A crossing.
Iceland 100 — ran 2025 & 2026 · the 2027 crossing is next
A guided running expedition across Iceland — 105 miles over five running days, from Fox Hostel in the Highlands through Landmannalaugar and the Laugavegur Trail, over the glacier and down past the waterfalls to the finish under Skógafoss on the south coast. Twelve runners, Justin, two crew. There's no clock and no podium. The island does the testing, and you come home a higher you.
Justin has led this crossing twice. Everyone who came back came back different — pushed past what they thought they had physically, opened up emotionally, quieter in the right ways, and closer to God and to the crew they crossed with. 2027 is the next one, and you're being asked first.

Who it's for
This invite isn't for everyone
Justin sends this link to people he believes are ready for it — ready to dig in physically and attack it emotionally. If that's you, read on. If it's not — no hard feelings.
01
Ready to dig in physically
Long days on your feet, back to back, across real terrain. This is not a soft adventure with a running theme — it's built to push you past what you think you have.
02
Ready to attack it emotionally
The miles strip the noise away and what's underneath comes up. You'll build something in there — and go deeper with God and with the crew — as much as you test your legs.
03
Twelve runners, on purpose
The crew is capped at 12 so it stays tight. You cross the Highlands together, one stage at a time, with Justin and two crew who've done this before.
The route, day by day
Five days, a thousand stories
This is how Justin runs it. Exact August 2027 dates, the Day 0 meet-up spot, and start times go to the list the moment they lock.

The line
Day 0Reykjavík → Fox Hostel
The team comes together, then three hours across the south coast into the Highlands.
Reykjavík → Fox Hostel
The team comes together, then three hours across the south coast into the Highlands.
We all meet at the meeting spot in Reykjavík at the designated time — this is where Run Iceland officially begins. Load everyone's gear into the support vehicles, introductions, a final gear check, then drive roughly three hours across the southern coastline up into the Icelandic Highlands to Fox Hostel.
Fox is the first base: a warm meal, a warm shower, and a kickoff in nature before the running starts. That evening: team briefing, route and safety talk, gear prep, then sleep. Tomorrow morning we run.

- Dinner: bolognese

- Fox Hostel
Day 1~23.6 miFox → Hólaskjól
A deliberately manageable opener — your first real taste of the Highlands.
Fox → Hólaskjól
A deliberately manageable opener — your first real taste of the Highlands.
Breakfast burritos, then we leave Fox on foot. This is the introduction to the Highlands and it's meant to be manageable. The support vehicles meet the runners along the route with lunch, snacks, water, and aid.
The finish is Hólaskjól: showers, a kitchen, indoor space.
- Aid
- Vehicle aid every 4–10 miles
- Meals
- Breakfast: burritos · Dinner: pesto tuna pasta
- Night
- Hólaskjól
Day 2~28.4 miHólaskjól → Landmannalaugar
The longest day — river crossings, winding valleys, and hot springs at the end.
Hólaskjól → Landmannalaugar
The longest day — river crossings, winding valleys, and hot springs at the end.
Oats and granola, then back out. This is where the landscape becomes unmistakably Icelandic: river crossings and long winding valleys on the way toward Landmannalaugar.
The day's finish is the reward. Landmannalaugar — natural geothermal hot springs, food, recovery, and one of the most famous landscapes in the Highlands.
- Aid
- Vehicle aid and lunch every 7–12 miles
- Meals
- Breakfast: oats + granola · Dinner: BBQ hot dogs
- Night
- Landmannalaugar
Day 3~16 miLandmannalaugar → Álftavatn
Onto the Laugavegur Trail. Short day, but you carry your own.
Landmannalaugar → Álftavatn
Onto the Laugavegur Trail. Short day, but you carry your own.
Oats and granola, then we enter the Laugavegur Trail and leave normal vehicle support behind for the day. It's a short one, but runners carry the food and equipment they need to cover the 16 miles.
The day finishes beside the lake at Álftavatn, where we settle in before going deeper into Laugavegur.
- Aid
- Self-supported — carry what you need
- Meals
- Breakfast: oats + granola

Day 4~20 miÁlftavatn → Volcano Huts
The day that tests everything you have. Then a hot pool and a sauna.
Álftavatn → Volcano Huts
The day that tests everything you have. Then a hot pool and a sauna.
Deeper through Laugavegur toward Þórsmörk. Vehicle access on this section is extremely limited, so expect a much more self-supported day — if conditions and access allow, the crew will set aid around mile 9; otherwise you carry what you need. This is the day meant to test everything you have. You are nearly there.
Eventually we descend into Þórsmörk and finish at Volcano Huts. Then it's recovery: hot pool, sauna, food, sleep.
- Aid
- Aid around mile 9 if access allows — otherwise self-supported

Day 5Volcano Huts → Skógafoss · the finish
Over the glacier, down past dozens of waterfalls, and under Skógafoss. Then the farm.
Volcano Huts → Skógafoss · the finish
Over the glacier, down past dozens of waterfalls, and under Skógafoss. Then the farm.
The final running morning starts with an egg scramble. Then we leave Þórsmörk for the southern coast — up and over a glacier and down the other side past dozens of waterfalls that will take your breath away. There are no traditional aid stations on this section; everything you need for the final push travels with you.
After five days and roughly 105 miles, the expedition finishes beneath Skógafoss. That's the finish line. Photos, hugs, some very tired legs — and nobody has to run anywhere tomorrow.
We load up and drive to our private farm Airbnb. That evening is ours: celebration dinner, drinks, the trip recap, stories from the week, recovery, a real bed. No alarms tomorrow, except for the spa.

Farm → Sky Lagoon → Reykjavík
Recovery day: the seven-step spa ritual, then your hotel, then farewell drinks if you're in.
A relaxed breakfast together at the Airbnb, pack up, and head back toward Reykjavík around 10 AM, aiming to reach Sky Lagoon around 11. Plan on three to four hours to soak, recover with the Icelandic seven-step spa ritual, and enjoy having absolutely nowhere to run.
After Sky Lagoon we take everyone back into Reykjavík and drop you at your hotel of choice. From here you're officially back on your own schedule — stay a night, stay a week, explore, go home. Ask Justin for ideas.
That evening, anyone who wants to come out for farewell drinks in Reykjavík is more than welcome. Nothing formal — just diving back into society and one last chance for the group to be together before everyone heads home.

Behind every mile
Two crew. Plus Justin.
Two experienced crew members plus Justin, who know this event and know Iceland. Top-chef-level camp meals, perfectly timed aid, gear, vehicles, and the constantly changing conditions of the Highlands — they keep the expedition moving.
More importantly, they keep the vibes high when yours are at their lowest. Cold, wet, exhausted, questioning why you signed up — these are the people you'll be very happy to see at the next stop with a hot coffee or broth, or just a hug. They've done this before. They know what the hard moments look like, and they'll be there for yours.

Getting there & back
Keflavík in, Keflavík out
Everything from the Day 0 Reykjavík meet-up through the Day 6 Reykjavík hotel drop-off is handled. Flights, your Reykjavík hotels before and after, and airport transfers are yours — as are any specialty items, though Justin will do his best to cover everyone's sweet tooth on the long trail days.
Arrival · KEF → Reykjavík
Fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF), about 50 km from Reykjavík. The easiest way in is the Flybus: it runs from KEF to the BSÍ Bus Terminal, times departures to arriving flights (usually 35–40 minutes after landing), and takes about 45 minutes. Around $33.
Check into the hotel of your choice — Justin's recommended Reykjavík hotels are coming. Your time before Day 0 is yours: arrive as early as you like, explore, eat, sleep, and recover from travel.
BSÍ Bus Terminal, Reykjavík
Departure · Reykjavík → KEF
There's no required group departure — book your flight home whenever works for you. The simplest return is the Flybus again, from Reykjavík / BSÍ to KEF. Reykjavík Excursions recommends arranging pickup roughly 3–4 hours before your flight; hotel or bus-stop pickups can be arranged depending on the ticket.
And that's it. 105 miles. Five days. Iceland crossed on foot.
